''Apple Pay" payment system starts operating in Azerbaijan from today. The payment system will be launched at 10:00 Baku time.
According to the information received by Banker.az from sources in the market, this payment system will be available on debit and credit cards issued by 4 commercial banks of the country. These are ABB (formerly International Bank of Azerbaijan), "Kapital Bank", "Bank Respublika" and "Unibank".
Note that on the last working day of last week, an official of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan stated at a press conference that a number of banks will be able to make payments via "Apple Pay" using debit and credit cards, through wireless POS terminals, on e-commerce pages and applications.
Addition to the news: It is now possible to add cards of the mentioned banks.

This payment system is a mobile payment and digital wallet service provided by Apple. The service allows users to make payments directly in iOS apps and on the web using Safari. It is supported on iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac. It is not available on any customer device not manufactured and sold by Apple (specifically, it cannot be used on any Android device, including browsers running on Windows). It has the feature of digitizing and replacing the credit or debit card chip and PIN transaction at a contactless POS terminal. For this, Apple Pay-specific contactless payment terminals are not required, and it can work with any merchant that accepts contactless payments. Devices communicate wirelessly with POS terminal systems using Near Field Communication (NFC) with a built-in Secure Element (eSE) to securely store payment data and perform cryptographic functions, and Apple's Touch ID and Face ID for biometric authentication.
